These children are awaiting surgery in Chappas, Mexico. Each child will receive funding for the bus trip home, sheltering and food during the hospital stay. Some parents walked or rode their tricycles with their family for weeks to come to have the surgery.
The surgery and nursing are performed free by an organization called CLAYPA (Clinca De Labio Y Paladar Hendido) and the operating and recovery room is provided free from their local hospital. In addition to the money, the Foundation is providing them with special surgical needles and bottle nipples so that these children can drink their formula in proper amounts. Currently malnutrition is also a threat to the health of these children.
